An 86-acre development that includes retail, restaurant, hospitality and civic components
The Levee District has been more than just a successful mixed-use project on its own. It launched the rebirth of business in the community. A Caterpillar Inc. manufacturing site from the early 1900’s until 1998, Cullinan redeveloped the 86-acre site that opened in 2012 into a strong mixed-use center that includes unique, locally owned businesses and draws guests from numerous counties on both the east and west sides of the Illinois River. In addition, other businesses were drawn to the area, doubling the offerings to the population. Working closely with the City of East Peoria, The Levee District development helped turn East Peoria into a hub of commerce that has transformed the area.
The Levee District is a vibrant mixed-use center and major shopping destination for the greater Peoria area. The development is home to anchor retailers Target, Costco, Slumberland Furniture, Ulta and Ross Dress for Less. A variety of dining options including Red Robin, Panera Bread, Potbelly Sandwich Shop, Chipotle, Crumbl Cookies, Jersey Mike’s, Panda Express, among others, are sure to please any crowd. The development is comprised of a 137-room Holiday Inn & Suites and is home to the City of East Peoria offices and the Fondulac Public Library.
Within minutes of Downtown Peoria, area tourist attractions include Par-A-Dice Hotel & Casino, EastSide Center, Peoria Civic Center, Dozer Park, Peoria Riverfront Museum and the Caterpillar Visitors Center.
