Tucanos Brazilian Grill welcomed city leaders to a preview of the restaurant on Tuesday night, the day before the restaurant planned to open to the public.
The restaurant, located at 1520 South Fifth Street, features Brazilian dining. It\’s among one of the first restaurants in the Streets of St.
Charles development to open.
\”We are so excited they\’re here in St. Charles City,\” Mayor Sally Faith said on Tuesday. \”They have a beautiful facility, wonderful food and the fact that they are already involved with local charities–that\’s community.\”
The restaurant is kicking off a benefit for four local charities in conjunction with the opening. Autism Speaks, Friends of Kids with Cancer, Operation Food Search and St. Patrick Center will compete for votes and a chance to win 60 percent of the proceeds from a charity celebration dinner April 6.
Runners up receive 20 percent for second place, and 10 percent for third and fourth place.

Cost to attend the charity dinner is $25 and include live music, non-alcoholic beverages, dinner and dessert
“Giving back never tasted so good,” added Tucanos co-founder and CFO Joe Heeb in a press release. “We believe in St. Charles’ growth potential and are committed to supporting its economy and people as much as possible. The more folks we can get to the charity dinner on April 4, the more we can collectively give back to this amazing community.”
