Culinary Student Cooks Way to Job at Prasino in St. Charles

A local culinary student will have two of her dishes featured on the menu of a St. Charles restaurant that\’s set to open next month — and she\’ll be cooking them, too.

Jazmyn Hornaday, 22, won a cooking competition this month hosted by her school, the Art Institute of St. Louis, and soon-to-open restaurant Prasino.

Her grilled salmon on green beans and roasted potatoes, and a poached-apple and spinach salad, impressed Prasino executive chef Jared Case and his fellow judges.

Hornaday, a St. Louis native, landed a cooking position at Prasino once she graduates, and a restaurant spokesman said her dishes will likely be on Prasino\’s opening menu in mid-April.

Prasino, a small Chicago-based chain, is located at 1520 South Fifth Street in the Streets of St. Charles complex, in the site of the former Noah\’s Ark restaurant.
